Most of the images I have to work with in this class are your typical "family snapshots". As much as I would like to be a "photographer", I am not. Consequently, my impression of the selection tools will probably not be typical of what might occur in the "real world" of higher end photo editing.
Keeping this context in mind, I am not all that impressed with the magic wand. Family snapshots often are a swirl of colors rather than having large expanses of a solid or near-solid color. Quick select is handy although, again, in snapshot type images there may be similar tones adjacent to each other which will require some touching up. The lasso can be useful for that, although it does take a steady hand and perhaps some rather extreme zooming.
"What tools and strategies that you used to create your simple composite will you use in future projects?"
Lots of practice. The basics of a composite are not that difficult, it is the fine tuning--the seamless blending of images--which is the real art and that is just gonna take time and practice.
"In this module, you created the transparent images. How do you believe these images will be used in your future web design projects?"
It will be useful for headers, logos, and other graphic elements that I want to appear on the page background rather than having it's own background.
"What file type did you save your transparent images as?" PNG
"What challenges did you experience in the process?"
The single biggest challenge was simply getting the selections correct and to my liking. Well, maybe finding a photo to use was my biggest challenge. It would be a photo-finish between those two things as the biggest challenge.
"What keyboard shortcuts are you using regularly now?"
Well, certainly not Option-X to clear the background. I don't know if that is an error in the instructions or if I was just having an issue, but I had to use Command-X to clear the background.
The link to my Project 3 page is here and the above photo. I also have begun keeping a general index page up dated and that can be found here.
